Introduction

Everyone who takes precious time out of their busy schedule to visualize, discuss, and strategize a better future for South Sudan has, in common, frustration with people who suffer even more from the holocaust surrounding families still in their homeland, yet who are too "busy" for discussion, and who even mock trying to heal their homeland.

Who can understand this?

Every parent can understand this. Every parent knows times with every child where the parent's guidance is hardly for the benefit of the parent but for the child - the parent even pays a great cost for opportunities for the child - yet the child rejects a better life, whines, mocks, and sometimes is violent. What a blessing for any parent when a child runs joyfully the race of life, but no child will cross the finish line without being dragged at least part way.

God understands this! All the time God was creating a paradise on Earth for all of us, (God said, "It is good" in Genesis 1:4, 10, 12, 18, 21, 25, 31), God knew all of us would reject it some of the time, and some of us would reject it all the time!

Romans 8:19  For the creation eagerly awaits the revelation of the sons of God.
20  For the creation was subjected to futility—not willingly but because of the
One who subjected it—in hope 21  that the creation itself also will be set free
from bondage to decay into the glorious freedom of the children of God. (TLV)

How is it possible that a child can resist growing up?

How is it possible that an adult can turn his back on Heaven?

How can adults turn their backs on on the Door to peace, freedom, and prosperity God offers even here on Earth?

Luke 6:38 Give, and it will be given to you—a good measure, pressed down, shaken together,
overflowing, will be given into your lap. For whatever measure you measure out
will be measured back to you. (TLV)

God understands our frustration. And yet, all the time He was creating Paradise for us, knowing how much it would be rejected, God's heart was even more full of joy than the heart of a parent sacrificing for a rebellious child.

Job 38:4  "Where were you when I laid the foundation of the earth? Tell me, if you have understanding.
5  Who determined its measurements—surely you know! Or who stretched the line upon it?
6  On what were its bases sunk, or who laid its cornerstone,
7  when the morning stars sang together and all the sons of God shouted for joy?

So, Brothers, ...let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not. Galatians 6:9

There is joy in creating a beautifully wrapped gift of opportunity for others, even knowing most will be very slow to unwrap it, many will try to stop us, and some will hurt us. Let us keep our eyes on our Example,

looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy

that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame,
and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God. Hebrews 12:2 (ESV)

So you complain that you stretch out your arms to offer help to those who desperately need what you offer but who will not receive it? Perhaps then you can understand God, a little bit, Who cried out,

"Jerusalem, Jerusalem! You kill the prophets and stone the messengers God has sent you!
How many times I wanted to put my arms around all your people, just as a hen gathers her chicks
under her wings, but you would not let me! Matthew 23:37 (GNB)
But concerning Israel he says, "All day long I held out my hands to welcome
a disobedient and rebellious people." Romans 10:21 (GNB)

Here Jesus describes His frustration with us for accepting so much less than the Best that He offers us. Then Jesus warns of judgment! Not that He desires for us, but from which He longs to deliver us, if we will let Him! And yet listen to His sweet plea at the end of His frustration with us:

Matthew 11:15 Listen, then, if you have ears! 16 "Now, to what can I compare the people
of this day? They are like children sitting in the marketplace. One group shouts to the other,
17 'We played wedding music for you, but you wouldn't dance! We sang funeral songs, but you wouldn't cry!'
18 When John came, he fasted and drank no wine, and everyone said, 'He has a demon in him!'
19 When the Son of Man came, he ate and drank, and everyone said, 'Look at this man! He is a glutton
and wine drinker, a friend of tax collectors and other outcasts!' God's wisdom, however,
is shown to be true by its results." 20 The people in the towns where Jesus had performed
most of his miracles did not turn from their sins, so he reproached those towns.
21 "How terrible it will be for you, Chorazin! How terrible for you too, Bethsaida!
If the miracles which were performed in you had been performed in Tyre and Sidon,
the people there would have long ago put on sackcloth and sprinkled ashes on themselves,
to show that they had turned from their sins! 22 I assure you that on the Judgment Day God will show more mercy
to the people of Tyre and Sidon than to you! 23 And as for you, Capernaum! Did you want to lift yourself
up to heaven? You will be thrown down to hell! If the miracles which were performed in you
had been performed in Sodom, it would still be in existence today!
24 You can be sure that on the Judgment Day God will show more mercy to Sodom than to you!"
25 At that time Jesus said, "Father, Lord of heaven and earth! I thank you
because you have shown to the unlearned what you have hidden from the wise and learned.
26 Yes, Father, this was how you were pleased to have it happen. 27 "My Father has given me all things.
No one knows the Son except the Father, and no one knows the Father except the Son and those
to whom the Son chooses to reveal him.
28 "Come to me, all of you who are tired from carrying heavy loads, and I will give you rest.
29 Take my yoke and put it on you, and learn from me, because I am gentle and humble in spirit; and you will find rest.
30 For the yoke I will give you is easy, and the load I will put on you is light."

What could make God so patient with us? What can make us patient with those we long to help? Love.

John 15:13  Greater love has no one than this, that someone lay down his life for his friends.

Love means giving up something of ourselves - "losing" ourselves. Yet this is how we "find" ourselves - our meaning, our purpose in life!

Matthew 16:24  Then Jesus told his disciples, "If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself
and take up his cross and follow me. 25  For whoever would save his life will lose it,
but whoever loses his life for my sake will find it. 26  For what will it profit a man
if he gains the whole world and forfeits his soul? Or what shall a man give in return for his soul?

God sets us free as we march, with Him, into the Promised Land. Don't wait for Pharoah to free you
