Prideful Trump and the Bible’s Hard Red Line on Sodom
Who enclosed the sea behind doors when it burst forth from the womb, when I made the clouds its garment and thick darkness its blanket, when I fixed its boundaries and set in place its bars and doors, and I declared: ‘You may come this far, but no farther; here your proud waves must stop’?
(Job 38:8-11).
Pride is the original sin
Pride is the original sin – born from self-awareness in the mind of every created being of the higher orders – perverted by the lust for self-aggrandizement in defiance of the Creator. Pride was the poison that toppled Lucifer, the Guardian Cherub who had walked in Eden and among the fire stones but who presumed to covet God’s throne (Ezekiel 28, Isaiah 14). And Pride is the defining crime of the end-times Satanic army which has presumed to covet God’s rainbow as both a parade banner beneath which it mocks Him, and a garment within which it wraps the ultimate form of human rebellion: male-on-male sodomy. “They display their sin like Sodom; They do not even conceal it. Woe to them! For they have brought evil on themselves” (Isaiah 3:9).
Pride is the greatest flaw of our great political hero of 2016, Donald Trump. We all know it and have overlooked it for political expedience because he has been such a great champion against the truly wicked deep state. At the human level pride is not such a huge problem as to disqualify someone from leadership, and in fact most if not all of our leaders have suffered it to one degree or another. And Trump’s openness about his pridefulness has, to a point, actually been a refreshing change from the pretense of false modesty and the self-serving guile that has come to define the political class.
“Behold, this was the iniquity of thy sister Sodom, pride, fulness of bread, and abundance of idleness was in her and in her daughters, neither did she strengthen the hand of the poor and needy. And they were haughty, and committed abomination before me: therefore I took them away as I saw good” (Ezekiel 16:49-50). This was the sequence that destroyed Sodom, then ancient Israel, and now America. Pride leads to abomination, specifically the sexual perversion of male homosexuality which defined Sodom and which justified God’s genocide of the Canaanites – in His own words (Leviticus 18:22-30).
Leviticus 18:22 Thou shalt not lie with mankind, as with womankind: it is abomination. 23 Neither shalt thou lie with any beast to defile thyself therewith: neither shall any woman stand before a beast to lie down thereto: it is confusion. 24 Defile not ye yourselves in any of these things: for in all these the nations are defiled which I cast out before you: 25 And the land is defiled: therefore I do visit the iniquity thereof upon it, and the land itself vomiteth out her inhabitants. 26 Ye shall therefore keep my statutes and my judgments, and shall not commit any of these abominations; neither any of your own nation, nor any stranger that sojourneth among you: 27 (For all these abominations have the men of the land done, which were before you, and the land is defiled;) 28 That the land spue not you out also, when ye defile it, as it spued out the nations that were before you.
But Pride in the sense of spiritual impertinence toward God is the yuugest of problems as King Nebuchadnezzar learned, when he declared “ ‘Is this not Babylon the Great, which I myself have built by the might of my power as a royal residence and for the glory of my majesty?’ While the words were still in the king’s mouth, a voice came from heaven: ‘It is decreed to you, King Nebuchadnezzar, that the kingdom has departed from you’ ” (Daniel 4:30-31). Is an attitude much like this the reason why God allowed Trump to be de-throned in 2020?
Dishonorable Sodomy
More likely, it was Trump’s embrace of the LGBT agenda and the dangerous empowerment of open homosexual activists like Ric Grennell. Consider carefully the New Testament’s doctrinal counterpart to Leviticus 18 in Romans 1:26-32 “For this reason God gave them over to dishonorable passions. Even their women exchanged natural relations for unnatural ones. Likewise, the men abandoned natural relations with women and burned with lust for one another. Men committed indecent acts with other men, and received in themselves the due penalty for their error. Furthermore, since they did not see fit to acknowledge God, He gave them up to a depraved mind, to do what ought not to be done. [And]...Although they know God’s righteous decree that those who do such things are worthy of death, they not only continue to do these things, but also approve of those who practice them.”
God drew a hard red line in Scripture linking Leviticus 19 and Romans 1 as the two witnesses (Jewish and Christian) against Sodom. Those who cross that line have failed His test of discernment about the things of this world and invite serious moral confusion into their lives.
There aren’t many Christian leaders left in America these days who actually adhere to the Bible on this most fundamental of truths relative to human civilization. They’ve been bought off by Soros, or intimidated into compromise by fear of LGBT wrath (which is, as I know first-hand, very fierce), or shamed into silence by their own sexual self-indulgences. But as God has promised, there always remains a remnant to be a witness to the truths the world does not want to hear.
Today, I call for that remnant to rise up across this land and challenge Donald Trump to repent of his embrace of what he calls “gay rights” but what we know is the spiritually and socially deadly act of approval of sodomy, which is literally the harbinger of God’s wrath from Genesis to Revelation. And while we are at it, let us issue that same challenge to Tulsi Gabbard, Kari Lake and every other MAGA-aligned leader who has sold out God to curry favor with the world.
Pray & Act for Repentance
Make no mistake, my purpose here is to help President Trump, not to hurt him. In my view as a stanchly Bible-grounded pastor and 30-year missionary to the global pro-family movement, Trump cannot win God’s favor in his pursuit of the White House in 2024 if he does not repent of his approval of what God had declared not just a sin but an ABOMINATION. This is AMERICA! – the nation founded upon the Bible in the model of the Israelite Republic, and it cannot be made great again by defying the God of the Bible and dishonoring the sacrifice of the Founders who bequeathed this land to us by trampling their moral code into the mud!
But what could happen is that, like King Saul who started right but turned evil, Trump could end up being like one of the very tyrants we raised him up to overthrow. [Ed: Sic - does he mean "one of the very tyrants God raised up to overthrow"?]
Sin Spreads like Cancer - Repentance puts it in Remission
No one who intentionally suppresses the truth of God on one issue stops with one. Sin is progressive, it spreads like a cancer in your heart and mind. That’s the main lesson of Romans 1! Only repentance puts that cancer into remission and stops your slide toward the “reprobate mind.” Trump went from an initial tepid acceptance of open homosexuals in his support base in 2016 to a full throated advocacy of “gay rights” on the very day the “Defilement of Marriage Act” became law. [Ed: In December, 2022.] Next he’ll endorse parts and then all of the transsexual agenda, then transhumanism, like he caved on the fake vax. It’s an inevitable slippery slope of the mind for a politician (which, unfortunately, he seems to have become). UNLESS he repents, if he is capable of it -- As Old Nebs did and was restored to power! (Daniel 4:31-3=7).
Consequences
I have been one of Donald Trump’s strongest defenders. I ran for governor of Massachusetts in 2018 on the motto “Pro-Life, Pro-Gun, Pro-Trump.” But for real Christians, when it comes to choosing Trump or the Bible, there is no contest: Trump must lose as a matter of preserving our spiritual integrity. If 2024 comes down to just another choice of the lesser of two evils – both allied with the King of Sodom -- I may not even vote. But while there is still a chance in these early days of the election cycle to win Trump back from the clutches of the Rainbow Reprobates, his Christian base should go all out to do so, and only then fully back him.
David Lane, director of American Renewal Project
Started Well but Finish in Doubt
David Lane organizes events where pastors come to hear political leaders and pastors talk about the importance of voting and running for office. Three pastors are now in the Iowa legislature who were encouraged by the meetings. The events are in nice hotels where pastors are given lodging and food for the 2-3 day events. This article was in Lane's January 24, 2023 email.
The Dutch pastor, scholar, and church leader Marinus Burcht van ’t Veer [1904-1944] examined the conflict, depicted in 1 Kings 16-21, between the prophet Elijah, King Ahab, and Queen Jezebel in his book My God Is Yahweh: Elijah and Ahab in an Age of Apostasy. With regard to ancient Israel’s abandonment of God he noted, “Now that Israel was no longer interested in her calling, the Lord took away her privileges,” befittingly adding, “The privilege of being God’s ally would now be enjoyed by others.”
Modern American Christendom finds itself in a similar predicament. The nation’s Founders disembarked at Jamestown in 1607, erected a cross, took communion, and pledged “to reach the People within these shores with the Gospel of Jesus Christ and raise up Godly generations after us.” Sharing a spiritually robust English Puritan kinship, the Founders possessed the kind of unshakeable faith that nowadays is hardly ever seen anymore.
America began as an Explicitly Christian Nation
It has been asked that if America’s Founders wanted to establish Christianity as the official religion of America, why didn’t they just say so? Well, they did. A straight answer to that question can be found in the 13 Original States Charters and Constitutions of Massachusetts, Rhode Island, New Hampshire, Connecticut, New York, South Carolina, Georgia, North Carolina, Virginia, Pennsylvania, Delaware, New Jersey and Maryland. goo.gl/cBw4Xh
But much like ancient apostate Israel, America frittered away its Judeo-Christian heritage and shattered the well-ordered, systematic Biblical bedrock and culture laid down by the early Founders.
Drifting Unmoored
Now unmoored from its foundation, 21st-century America is drifting further and further afield as the nation enters the darkest recesses of woke, vulgarian territory. Ignoring or disregarding God’s divinely ordained dictums and dictates will have serious consequences, for God not only keeps His promises but also follows up on His warnings and threats.1
Contemporary culture is but the public manifestation of the immoral, crude, and irreverent profession of secular faith, whose evangelization of America’s youth in public education is undoubtedly a stench in the nostrils of God.
After a century-long battle, secularism finally wrenched culture off its Biblically solid base that the Founders had erected for the purpose of law and order. Under the false pretense of achieving ‘religious neutrality’, secular overlords and courts realized this, among others, by prohibiting prayer in public schools in 1962, removing the Bible from public education in 1963, and outlawing the Ten Commandments from schoolhouses and government buildings in 1980.
Since no such thing as ‘religious neutrality’ exists, America’s Christian forefathers insisted on being [and staying] involved in society and politics. They declined to turn civil government - the making, enforcement, and adjudication of laws - over to Satan and those who serve him. They would neither surrender the ministry of civil government nor give in to those who live in rebellion against God. Civil government was to be based upon God’s unquestionable truth.2 And so it was.
Trump Calls Lack of Early Evangelical Support "Disloyalty"
With that we come to Donald J. Trump’s recent comments and annoyance with the lack of early Evangelical support for his 2024 presidential reelection campaign, which he described as “a sign of disloyalty.”
Trumps Disloyalty to Decency - Sodomy Party
Lets place Trump’s displeasure with Evangelical leaders against the background of his December 2022 Log Cabin Republicans “Spirit of Lincoln” gala that he hosted at Mar-a-Lago. As POLITICO reported: “Hundreds of guests in tuxedos of all styles - sequined, quilted, velvet - and colorful gowns sipped on Trump-branded champagne and martinis. Between courses of steak and bite-sized Key lime pie, they danced to ‘YMCA’ and ‘Macho Man’, the disco anthems at Trump rallies.
“Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago beachfront club was a joyous celebration of gay rights and - in a case of ironic timing - the historic same-sex marriage law signed by President Joe Biden days earlier.” Trump led the crowd in formal cheers, advocating to joyous revelry that “we are fighting for the gay community, and we are fighting and fighting hard.”3
When Trump Renews Loyalty to Decency Evangelicals will Renew Loyalty to Trump (if Trump doesn't wait too long)
In considering the upcoming 2024 elections, Evangelicals are mostly interested in candidates with a faculty of core beliefs. If former president Trump is to gain traction with believers, we encourage him to focus once again on what’s of key importance to the nation: the battle for the Soul of America, and the spiritual rehabilitation of the Biblically based culture initiated by the Founders.
Because virtue and liberty are inseparably linked, liberty cannot long be preserved in the absence of virtue among the people and their representatives.4
Gideons and Rahabs are beginning to stand.

I appreciate Scott's reminder that Trump's "yuuge" sodomite bash December 16, 2022 at his Mar-a-lago resort where he told sodomites “We are fighting for the gay community, and we are fighting and fighting hard” was a "yuuge" change from his tepid support for them when he first ran in 2016.
I appreciate the Biblical perspective of pride noted by Scott Lively and David Lane.
Trump Pride Test
I appreciate Scott's reminder about Trump's failure on covid vaccines. Scott calls it "caving", but I see it as the obvious consequence of pride. He boasted that no one else has been able to get a vaccine developed this fast, but he did. Never mind the scientific reality that side effects can take years, even decades to show up. He is such a good dealmaker that he can put together a team of top doctors who can push decades of research through in mere weeks.
Just like a man jumping off a cliff may say "no one else ever jumped off a cliff and lived, but look! I am alive and this is fun!" That is, he may say it, if the ground is far enough down for him to get that much out. But at the bottom of every cliff there is ground. Trump yanked Science itself off the cliff (no, I don't mean Anthony Fauci) and right now we are feeling the shock waves of the splat in slow motion.
Will Trump ever apologize for his rash promise? I predict this is a test God has set up of the depth of his pride. If he is unable to say he was wrong, surely enough MAGA voters will be terrified of putting an unrepentant vax fanatic back in the white house again, when DeSantis is available who has boldly opposed vax mandates.
The test is not just Trump. Its for the majority of America's population. Today, January 29, Alex Berenson reports an email from a CDC employee:
"I work at CDC. Initially people were very pro-vaccine, rushing to get boosters when they were first available, clamoring for the approval so they could jab their kids, etc. Now some confide to me that they don't want more boosters, and the body count is getting noticeable-people in their 40s-60s mostly, representative of the workplace. But I don't think they'll ever admit they were wrong: there's no face-saving way I can think of to back down and admit the truth."
It helps me understand how whole ancient cultures could embrace such hideous superstitions including torture and human sacrifice.
My email to Lane
Thank you for putting Trump's notorious party in a Biblical context. I have long perceived that Trump was hardly the most righteous candidate, but he was the most righteous that the majority of Republicans would accept. Was it from your email that I learned that a Gallup poll had 55% of Republicans OK with gay marriage?
Do you agree with me that candidates and lawmakers should ALSO put issues in a Biblical context? Do you perceive as I do that it amounts to censoring God by Christians, that party platforms never include Bible studies to double check whether our positions align with the will of God as much as we assume?
